Seattle Art Walk 2011

You wouldn’t expect anything less than a diverse artistic community on the city of Seattle would you; especially considering Seattle’s rich and diverse demographics. If you want to create a calendar/plan for the New Year to check out some of the city’s most popular artwalks we provide the following broad brush stroke for you to use how you will (and we hope you use it a lot!).

Ballard Artwalk (Second Saturday every month) let’s you explore some of the best Ballard galleries and businesses as they stay open late for this monthly event to showcase artists. It’s great fun and several establishments offer appetizers and drinks!Belltown Artwalk (Third Thursday every month) is home to many unique galleries and other venues such as food and music all set in a colorful neighborhood. Visit galleries for coupons that can be used at many of the area’s popular restaurants and bars.Fremont Artwalk (First Friday every month) is Seattle’s most free-spirited art community which has long been known as the center of Seattle’s art pulse. Fremont’s galleries, shops and restaurants are crowded with people looking for something new and finding just that via exciting art representing an eclectic mix of styles from artists both local and worldwide.Pioneer Square (First Thursday every month) has provided a haven for gallery owners and artists since the early 1960s and is at the center of Seattle’s art scene today. The Art Walk in Pioneer Square is enhanced by the dozens of public art installations that can be found when walking between galleries. First Thursday started in 1981 and has now evolved into a beloved fixture on the local arts calendar.

There are more, of course; we mention these only to whet your appetite and get you out to start exploring. The bottom line is that Seattle is chock-full of art just keep your eyes open and you’ll happen upon it; that’s one of the beauties of this great city.
